The market is packed with pickup trucks that cater to customers, no matter what their budget. This makes choosing one, pretty tough. You don’t just have to decide which make and model you want, but also have to select the features you will need. There are a few things we believe every truck needs. So when you go shopping, make sure the truck you choose has all of the following features.
Rear Seats
A single cab truck may be cheaper, but it’s always a good idea to have a second row of seats in your vehicle. Even if the truck will primarily be used for work and that second row will rarely ever be used, it makes sense to have it. It’s practical when you want to leave some items in a lockable area rather than in an open cab. It also gives your truck better resale value. Single-cab trucks are hard to sell in the market because there are many extra- or quad-cab pickups available.
Reverse Camera
Trucks are large vehicles. The cab also makes backing up the truck rather tricky. A great way to manage this is by installing a camera that allows you to see the area behind the truck when you put it in reverse. Some truck models may already have this feature, but if the truck you’re considering does not, we recommend getting it installed from the factory or if they don’t offer it, ask your dealer. Some cameras also provide multiple angles and guidelines.
Large Mirrors
If you’re a first-time truck-buyer, or even if you’re not, we can’t recommend trailering mirrors enough. These extend the mirror assembly to the sides to improve visibility and easily increase awareness of the area around your truck. They are especially helpful in case you decide to tow a trailer behind your truck.
Off-road Accessories
This one is obvious. Ensure the truck you buy has 4WD, a low-range gearbox, locking differentials, underbody protection, tow hooks, and the possibility of adding a winch in case you decide that you really enjoy off-road driving.
Power Outlets
Whether you use the truck for work, or as a family vehicle, you’ll always need power outlets to charge your devices. USB ports are standard now, but trucks also come with 110-volt outlets that can power a laptop or even a TV.
