A simple step-by-step guide to simplify your skincare routine.
After a certain age, your skincare regimen needs more than the standard T-zone washing and slathering on moisturizer whenever you experience dryness. But you’re still not sure when and how to use what in order to get the best results. And more importantly, not overdo the skincare rituals. We’ve put together a simple guide that will help ease those worry lines. Here are easy morning and evening guides to help you keep your skin looking absolutely gorgeous.
Morning
Step 1: Cleanser. If your skin is oily, use a mild wash. Most other people can just splash water because there’s no makeup to remove.
Step 2: Toner. New toner formulas rebalance your skin’s pH levels. Gently tap the toner into your skin using the palms of your hands.
Step 3: Serums. Serums help because they’re concentrated with active ingredients. Choose serums according to your skin issue. Brighten dull skin with vitamin C or firm up fine lines with peptides.
Step 4: Moisturizer + sunscreen. Sunscreen is mandatory. Choose a new super-hydrating, fast-absorbing, formula. New formulas wear well under makeup too, so make sure you read the package before you buy.
Evening
Step 1: Makeup remover followed by a cleanser. Use cleansing oil or micellar water to remove makeup and follow that with a face wash. It’ll ensure that everything comes off and helps keep skin clear.
Step 2: Exfoliator. Once or twice a week, use a grainy scrub or an at-home peel to remove dead skin cells and give you a bright glowing complexion. If you want, you can skip the cleanser from step one and exfoliate straight after the makeup remover, so you don’t extra-cleanse and end up irritating your skin.
Step 3: Toner. A thin layer or alcohol-free toner will replenish moisture that was lost after cleansing.
Step 4: Mask. Post-exfoliating sheet masks once or twice a week will penetrate your skin and give you the best results.
Step 5: Serum. Smooth a small dime-sized amount of serum all over your face and neck.
Step 6: Moisturize. Seal all that goodness in with a night cream or moisturizer. Choose one that works for you.
Step7: Eye cream. Tap a pea-sized amount of eye cream under and over the lids of both eyes to finish.
